Part One: Bathrooms & Sliding Doors
Plantation shutters offer a classic look for window coverings that work with every imaginable décor type. Whether you have a traditional, eclectic, cottage, or farmhouse aesthetic, plantation shutters offer the look and privacy to finish off your room.
At Custom Blinds & Shutters of Alabama, we want to do more than simply measure and install your new plantation shutters. We want to work with you to create the perfect finish to your favorite room. There’s no better way to ensure a beautiful outcome than with careful planning that starts with great design inspiration. To help get the creative juices flowing as you consider your renovation choices, we have put together a great set of inspirational photos. We will develop this series over the next few months and will kick it off today with a focus on plantation shutters in two areas of your home: the bathroom and with a sliding patio door.
Plantation Shutters in the Bath
This bathroom has so much good happening, it is hard to narrow in on my favorite part – the light fixture, the gorgeous combination of wood, glass and marble, and of course, the plantation shutters. What makes these shutters work so well is the color choice. The slate gray here allows them to pop out and serve as a visual focal point in the otherwise white wall. It is sometimes too easy to just default to white shutters when the trim paint in a room is white, but this bathroom illustrates beautifully what possibilities exist when you venture a little further away from the expected.
When you’ve got a nice, big window above your tub, you need to balance privacy issues with keeping plenty of light and openness. Using plantation shutters only on the lower half of the window is a great solution to this problem, as this beautiful bathroom shows. I also love the Moravian star above the soaking tub.
This cottage style bathroom is creative and stylish, finding the perfect balance between current and timeless. The plantation shutters are an important part of the mix. They perfectly compliment the wall tile and moldings of the room.
Plantation Shutters on a Sliding Patio Door
We love the idea of using plantation shutters in this unexpected place! It adds a great look and design element to a traditionally overlooked ‘window.’ The three images below offer a variety of ways and styles, including both large sliding panels and accordion shutters, to employ the style and functionality of plantation shutters in an all new way.
We hope you find this new series of design inspiration stories fun and helpful. If there is a particular room you are working on and would like to suggest it for future stories in this series, just let us know.
