Plantation Shutters in the Bath
This bathroom has so much good happening, it is hard to narrow in on my favorite part – the light fixture, the gorgeous combination of wood, glass and marble, and of course, the plantation shutters. What makes these shutters work so well is the color choice. The slate gray here allows them to pop out and serve as a visual focal point in the otherwise white wall. It is sometimes too easy to just default to white shutters when the trim paint in a room is white, but this bathroom illustrates beautifully what possibilities exist when you venture a little further away from the expected.

When you’ve got a nice, big window above your tub, you need to balance privacy issues with keeping plenty of light and openness. Using plantation shutters only on the lower half of the window is a great solution to this problem, as this beautiful bathroom shows. I also love the Moravian star above the soaking tub.
